 Renaissance guitar, called also "Quinterna"Quinterna is a illustrated as a guitar shaped 6 courses 11 strings instrument on the Michael Praetorius's book in 1619. You can read it on the IMSLP. Quiterna is cited in the book of "The guitar and its music" of Tyler and Sparks and "The Interpretation of the Music of the XVIIth and XVIIIth Centuries" of Arnold Dolmetsch. The word "quinterna" have probably the same origin as chitarra or guitar and used like the luth with similar tunings. |
